While Poco has grown into one of the most popular smartphone companies in the budget segment and continues to offer some of the most compelling value-for-money offerings, devices like the Poco X2 threaten to dent its carefully established position.

The phone has been a cause of bother for its users since its early days when it saw several delays with the Android 11 update, and has now turned into a real pain due to several critical bugs and issues acting at once.

We previously highlighted how its Android 11 update introduced several annoying problems like phone hanging, broken animations, UI lags, and more.

Soon after, the infamous Widevine downgrade bug popped up, as if the existing issues weren’t enough trouble already.

But you see, the aforementioned bugs aren’t exactly deal-breaking and can be kind of gotten used to.

There is another widespread issue, however, that is purportedly hardware-related and causes the Poco X2’s rear camera to stop functioning completely.

And now, further adding fuel to the fire are reports of touch screen issues following recent updates (MIUI 12.5) from Poco X2 users. These issues range from bad touch response to touch not working at all.

Responsiveness isn’t the only problem though as several complaints have also mentioned ghost touch issues and problems with scrolling.

Users say that taking the device to the service center results in support asking them to get their motherboard replaced, which is quite expensive.

Similar responses were also given to those with failed cameras, so it can’t be ruled out that the two issues are related.

It is quite difficult to establish currently if the camera and touch screen issues are indeed hardware-related though. This is because quite a few users have stated that they began following certain updates.

However, responses from support asking to get a motherboard replacement seem to point in the direction of a hardware problem.

Could the Poco X2 have a serious hardware flaw that causes the motherboard to malfunction resulting in the failure of key components like the touch panel and the camera? Hard to know without sufficient official information.

What we do know is that Poco should move the resolution of these issues to the fast track given their widespread nature, and actually deliver results instead of issuing dodgy statements.

As for the touch screen issues on the Poco X2, support says that they’re working on them, so let’s just hope it all goes well.
