The Poco Launcher was first introduced alongside the Poco F1 and brought about a list of new features sought by many at that time. And one of such features was the app drawer, among other things.

The launcher was also the one thing that allowed the Pocophone to stand out from the Xiaomi software experience which was otherwise indifferentiable.

Following its release, the app has undergone many new feature additions and tweaks. However, things recently have seemed to slow down.

The MIUI Launcher has overseen some really rapid development ever since MIUI 12 came into the picture. And although the Poco Launcher used to always be a step ahead in terms of features, it recently has fallen way back, thanks to sparse development.

For example, the launcher still does not properly support Android 10 gestures and animations as we highlighted previously.

The whole case has led to many users being dissatisfied with the launcher and has even resulted in demands that Poco should ditch its launcher in favor of the MIUI Launcher.

The good news is that Poco has taken all the feedback seriously and is now seemingly working on a revamped launcher that will improve on its predecessor’s shortcomings. It has been dubbed the Poco Launcher 3.0.

All this comes while the Poco Launcher 2.0 has hit 10 million downloads on the Google Play Store, thus achieving a great milestone.

In contrast, the total number of downloads of other popular launchers like Action Launcher and Lawnchair don’t come close to this number even when put together.

But again, most of Poco Launcher’s figures can be attributed to over 6 million units Poco has sold to date. Of course, all Poco devices ship with the Poco Launcher which effectively adds to the total number.

And as the numbers of Poco users continue to grow substantially with each passing day, one can only expect Poco to at least do the bare minimum of rolling out bug fixes in time alongside adding the most requested features.

Hopefully, the upcoming Poco Launcher 3.0 will be a bag of surprises and not result in disappointment especially after such a lengthy development period.
