The Poco F3 was released in late March and is just another addition to the ever-growing list of Chinese ‘flagship killer’ devices. The phone is sold as the Xiaomi Redmi K40 in China and as the Mi 11X in India.

And being a flagship killer means that the Poco F3 comes with some pretty impressive specs for its price. For starters, there is the Snapdragon 870 5G processor and a super AMOLED 120Hz HDR10+ display.

On the software side of things, the device shipped with Android-11 based MIUI 12. The MIUI version isn’t exactly a tip-top software experience as there has been plenty of negative feedback regarding its performance.

But MIUI 12 on the Poco F3 is topped with a couple of more device-specific issues that worsened the overall experience. We previously highlighted how the idle battery drain on the device was abnormally high.

This is combined with random shutdowns and delayed touch response in games like CODM and PUBG. Bugs like these can be expected during the early days of any device as the software is still rough around the edges but it seems the Poco F3 fared a bit worse.

Thankfully, all of the aforementioned issues have already been acknowledged with some of them even being addressed with recently released bug-fixing updates.

Anyway, one of the highlight features of the Poco F3 is the dual speakers setup which has been coupled with Dolby Atmos optimizations.

The Dolby Atmos bit, however, was missing out-of-the-box. Poco had promised that it would be made available via a future OTA update.

The said update is now rolling out to both the Poco F3 and the Indian Mi 11X and brings along a bunch of audio customization options to tune your device’s sound output to your heart’s content.

There is now a new graphic equalizer coupled with several presets for every music genre. These sound effects are not just for the Poco F3’s dual speakers as they can be applied to headsets as well.
