Poco was launched as a Xiaomi sub-brand back in 2018. It swiftly gained popularity thanks to its first smartphone – the Poco F1 – which offered top-of-the-line specifications at an affordable price.

The device sold so well that it propelled Poco to success immediately. So much so, that the brand soon gained enough confidence to seek independence from Xiaomi.

However, the Poco F1’s days of prime have long passed it has begun to show its age. But that’s mainly because of its dated design and that controversial notch; the Snapdragon 845 that powers the device is still no slouch by any means.

Still, the Poco F1 has definitely not been spared from a plethora of bugs and issues since launch. The device has seen so many that we even have an entire section dedicated to those.

And now, a puzzling new bug has emerged wherein switching to the front camera on the default Poco F1 MIUI camera app opens up the secondary rear camera instead.

This is extremely weird since the secondary rear camera is actually a depth sensor designed to assist the device’s camera algorithms to achieve that perfect background blurring in portrait mode shots.

This means that it shouldn’t directly be accessible from the camera app. The 5 MP sensor is too trashy for shooting photos anyway.

Moreover, the CIT menu that can be accessed by typing *#*#64663#*#* into the MIUI Dialer shows that the front camera on the Poco F1 is non-functional.

If you are one of those facing this, then you will be relieved to know that the issue has already been reported to Poco R&D.

Hey, It’s a known issue and has been reported to R&D.

It’s unclear at this point if it’s a hardware or a software problem although it does seem to be software-related affecting some users only.

Poco F1 MIUI 13 update latest status

A Mi Community mod has stated that the Pocophone F1 might receive neither Android 11 nor MIUI 13 as it has already crossed its promised number of updates.

We don’t have any information regarding Android 11 yet. I’d keep my hopes low since POCO F1 has already received the 2 promised major updates. As I’ve always said before, anything new will be a bonus.

We don’t know anything about MIUI 13 yet, so for now, it’s MIUI 12.5. As said above, it received 3 MIUI updates (as usual update cycle), so MIUI 12.5 may be the last, but we have to wait for confirmation.

A new update is also on the way with an updated security patch as per the same moderator:
