The latest developments suggest that the future of Google Pixel devices lies in AI-powered features that offer advanced functionalities thanks to the power of machine learning. One of the most promising features Google is working on is ‘Assistant with Bard’ (or simply ‘Bard’ as recent leaks suggest), which will take the capabilities of the traditional Assistant to a new level through the more powerful ‘Gemini’ models (‘Pro’ and ‘Ultra’).
The feature is not yet available, but Google wants to have everything ready before the rollout, so they have added a ‘teaser’ to the Pixel Tips app that offers us a glimpse of how Assistant with Bard works. The app even reveals when the feature will be available, as spotted by Mishaal Rahman and Nail_Sadykov. In case you don’t know, ‘Pixel Tips’ is an app that teaches you all the possibilities that your Pixel device offers so that you can make the most of it.
According to a hint in the Pixel Tips app (‘202403’), the ‘Assistant with Bard’ experience could arrive to eligible Google Pixel devices starting in March. This coincides with the month in which the next Pixel Feature Drop update is expected, so it could be part of it.
Tip not available for everyone yet
Additionally, the ‘Bard’ tip in the Pixel Tips app will only appear on the company’s traditional smartphones powered by Tensor hardware, being blocked for products such as the Pixel Tablet (tangorpro), Pixel Fold (felix) and the future Pixel Fold 2 (comet). It is likely that the aforementioned devices have some differences due to the large or folding screen format they use, which could explain why the tip is not available for them yet. Along with the previous requirement, the tip is appearing on devices running Android 14 QPR2 beta, so ‘Assistant with Bard’ seems to be designed for a broader rollout with the QPR2 stable update.
Finally, Google seems to have work ahead of it in the alleged rebranding of ‘Assistant with Bard’ to just ‘Bard’ recently reported, as there are still some sections where ‘Assistant with Bard’ is mentioned.
