However, Pixel Tablet users who rely on the Google Photos app for their screensaver feature have recently encountered an unexpected glitch.

Pixel Tablet ‘Google Photos screensaver’ showing a stock pic

Some users have claimed that their Pixel Tablet screensaver shows a stock photograph on the screens in place of already-set personal photo albums, especially in the Dock Mode (1,2,3).

Anybody else with the Pixel tablet notice that the screensavers don’t show up most the time? It works sometimes, but it mostly just goes black screen once it’s idle for 30 seconds. The screensavers I selected do not come up. (Hub mode)

The Google Photos app’s screensaver function, which plays a slideshow of personal images when the Pixel Tablet is idle, has been popular among users. It allows them to personalize their devices with their own photos.

However, an unusual bug has surfaced, leaving users bewildered and dissatisfied. It seems that the feature ceased to work suddenly and shows a default stock photo along with a ‘Add more photos’ message.

I have the same issue. The screensaver showed my photos for the first 2 days, then stopped working inexplicably. It now only show a stock photo and button “Add more photos”, no matter what album I add.

Coupled with this issue are some other screensaver-related problems as well (1,2,3). For some, the screen is turning off in Hub mode at random times, while for others, the screensaver turns off when the device is fully charged.

These puzzling issues have sparked frustration among users who are accustomed to enjoying a personalized screensaver experience.

Issue escalated

Although the problem was raised to Google for more investigation last month, there has still been no formal statement from the Pixel tablet team.

Unfortunately, there is no workaround for the issue where Pixel Tablet ‘Google Photos screensaver’ is showing a stock pic.

We hope that Google addresses this glitch as soon as possible. We also hope for the team to come up with a fix at the earliest.

In the meantime, we will keep an eye on this issue and update this story as soon as something noteworthy comes up.
