Without a doubt, Google is very proud of the cameras on all its Pixel phones. Since the launch of the first model, the company has placed special focus on this section, giving great importance not only to the hardware, but also to the image processing software. The camera system of the latest Google Pixel 8 series integrates all the experience the company has had so far.

Google recently partnered with LOS40 Music Awards to make the Pixel 8 Pro the ‘official portrait camera’ to take photos of the multiple Hispanic celebrities present at the Santander (Spain) event that took place a few days ago. The idea was to showcase the photographic power of the mobile device when taking portraits, one of the most common use scenarios on a daily basis.

Google and its partnerships for content creation using Pixel phones

This is not the first time that Google has done something like this to show off the cameras of their mobile devices. In August, the company became an official sponsor of Liverpool and Arsenal, two of the most popular football teams in the Premier League. Part of the agreement includes creating exclusive on-court content using Pixel phones.

Returning to the LOS40 Music Awards event, Albert Mullor was the photographer in charge of capturing the celebs pictures using the Google Pixel 8 Pro camera. The event was attended by several Hispanic and Latin American celebrities, both locally and globally known (like David Bisbal and Shakira, among others).

However, what’s really important to us here is one thing: the performance of the Google Pixel 8 Pro’s cameras.

As the pictures were uploaded to social platforms, there was some compression and loss of resolution, which means that they are not in the best conditions to carefully evaluate captured detail. Even so, superficially, we can notice well-defined textures in both the clothing and the skin of the subjects.

There also don’t appear to be any ‘blurry’ areas, which speaks well of the device’s subject tracking algorithm. Also, as expected from a ‘flagship mobile-camera’, there does not seem to be any kind of exposure or lighting issues, and the white balance seems quite accurate.

The second set of photos shows similar performance, indicating that the results from the device’s cameras are fairly consistent. Of course, you can tap on each photo to expand it and evaluate the results for yourself.

The Google Pixel 8 series is loaded with camera features to get the most out of their photography system. The devices not only include the company’s powerful image processing, but also a set of exclusive new or improved features:

  1. Best Take
  2. Magic Editor
  3. Audio Magic Eraser
  4. Zoom Enhance
  5. Magic Eraser
  6. Pro Controls
  7. Video Boost with Night Sight Video
