Developed by the same company that brought us Pokemon GO, Pikmin Bloom is an augmented reality-based game that was released in 2021. It incentivizes players to spend time outside.

Players are called Mii and are rewarded with items that help Pikmin creatures grow. They can roam around in the real world to collect different types of flowers.

A few months ago, players reported that the detector was acting up and showing mini-mart nearby instead of roadside. Now, Pikmin Bloom players are complaining (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) that they are unable to connect to the server on mobile data.

Several players reported that they are getting an ‘Unable to connect. Please check your internet connection and try again’ message after updating to v37. Many say that the bug is making the game unplayable.

It is interesting to note that the game is working fine if you try to log in using Wi-Fi. But is a really serious issue since the game requires going outside where Wi-Fi may not be available.

As of a couple of days ago I started having problems where the game doesn’t load if I’m connected only to cell. If I’m even on crappiest public wifi, the game loads. I’m on T-Mobile network with excellent network coverage and amazing speeds as you can see from the speed test. There’s no congestion or signal problems. I’m running Samsung Galaxy S20FE with Android 12. Again, I tried rebooting my phone, tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

@NianticHelp Stuck in a loop trying to access Pikmin Bloom. Pokémon GO is working fine. Have reinstalled the app, and it says “unable to connect” the second you try to select any sign in option. Any help?

Reinstalling the game or clearing app data and cache is reportedly making no difference at all.

Fortunately, Niantic Support has acknowledged the Pikmin Bloom issue where players are unable to log in using mobile data after the v37 update.

Hello there! Sorry for the inconvenience. We are aware of the issue where users are seeing the error message “Unable to connect” and will be unable to use mobile data to launch the app after updating to version 37. Our team is currently investigating this issue. ^ KP

They also shared a workaround that suggests turning off the VPN or ad blocker. But it looks like the workaround is not helping some.

Update 1 (February 11)

05:48 pm (IST): Pimkin Bloom issues where players are getting an error message ‘Unable to connect’ on the login screen and unable to launch the app has been fixed in v38.
