At ExileCon 2023, GGG confirmed June 7 2024 as the release date for the closed beta version of Path of Exile 2. However, fans are less hyped after it.
In the realm of action role-playing games, few titles have garnered as much fervor and anticipation as Path of Exile 2.
However, recent developments have left some fans less enthused about the impending release, triggering a wave of speculation and concern within the gaming community.
Path of Exile 2 fans less hyped after beta release date confirmation
For aficionados of the franchise, the announcement bore an air of bittersweet anticipation.
The confirmation of a concrete timeline undoubtedly marked a significant milestone. But it also ignited a sense of trepidation for the game’s future.
The reality that Path of Exile 2’s beta release being still a year or more away is disheartening. On top of it, the game will initially be in closed beta, which means that the full game release is even further away.
Some fear that people will lose interest over time, unless devs keep the hype rolling with frequent updates.
More importantly for the immediate future, what is going to happen to PoE1 now, as PoE2 was meant to fix everything.
I’m shockingly surprised that Exilecon decreased my hype for the future of the franchise. I’m kind of bummed about the whole thing. I’m hoping POE1 keeps getting updates.

Question marks over the quality of Path of Exile 2
Some players are skeptical about the quality and delivery of Path of Exile 2.
Given the long development time and the lack of communication from the developers, they worry that the game will be delayed further.
Others are not a big fan of the slower gameplay style of Path of Exile 2 and believe it is not going to be as good as the original game.
They worry that the developers are biting off more than they can chew.
Now people will forget PoE 2 is even a thing in that year, not to mention a lot can change and many of things said in this Exilecon can be obsolete, just like almost everything turned out to be obsolete from last Exilecon. I guess the takeaway is that such early Exilecon made it quite disappointing because it didn’t lead into anything really – just MORE waiting.

A subset of players even pondered the rationale behind ExileCon’s timing. Showcasing a game with a distant release date might have been better postponed.
The ripple effect of the beta release date announcement has cast a veil of uncertainty over the entire PoE franchise.
This air of uncertainty has even penetrated the ranks of the most devoted fans, igniting concerns about the franchise’s future trajectory.
