Overwatch 2 ‘broken’ for PS5 players after the Season 8 update?

With the release of the latest Season 8 update for Overwatch 2, many players are reporting severe and frequent FPS drops and lag issues. The issue has been added to the ‘Current Issues’ tab by the developers at Blizzard.

The newly released Season 8 titled “Call of the Hunt” of Overwatch 2 has introduced many changes to the game, including a new Tank hero, Mauga, weapon skin customizations for Reinhardt, Reaper, and Mercy, along with a new option for the Reticle’s Outline Color and changes to Outline Opacity.

Additionally, the new update has also introduced balance changes, including buffs to Mauga and other Tanks, as well as the introduction of a new PvPvE mode called Battle of the Beasts and an upcoming Winter Wonderland event.

However, not everything is going smoothly for the players. According to multiple reports surfacing on social media, players are witnessing increases in performance issues, including severe lag and FPS issues. These issues have reportedly ‘ruined’ the experience and ‘broken’ the game for countless players.

Going through the incoming barrage of reports and complaints, it seems that the majority of them are coming from PS5 players. Blizzard hasn’t made any statement on the issue, but on the bright side, there is an acknowledgment available right now.

Although the support hasn’t shared any active comments or updates on the situation, according to the official bug report section of the Blizzard website, this issue has been logged in the ‘current issues’ section.

This could mean that the team is aware of the problem, is currently investigating it, and may soon publish a patch or update to iron out the issue.
