People are now well aware of the importance of software and security updates. OEMs are also taking this task very seriously to push out timely security updates. 

Many of the OEMs have rolled out the October security updates for their devices while others are still pushing the September 2019 security patch. The September patch fixes a lot of vulnerabilities, according to the Android Security Bulletin.

Oppo is one of the smartphone manufacturers that is quite thriving in the mid-range and budget segment. Most of the devices in its portfolio are inclined towards providing the users a great smartphone photography experience. 

And recently, Oppo has pushed out new updates for the Oppo Reno 2 and Reno 2Z devices that bring September 2019 security update for both the devices along with some additional enhancements. Let us talk about the update one-by-one.

Oppo Reno 2

Oppo Reno 2 was recently launched by Oppo that features a quad-camera (48MP+13MP+8MP+2MP) setup and a shark-fin motorized selfie camera. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 730 chipset which is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage.

Under the hood, the device packs in a 4000 mAh battery and supports 20W fast charging. It also features the under-display fingerprint scanner.

The device is reportedly receiving the first update that bumps its security patch level to September 2019. The new update carries the version number A.20. However, the size of the update is not known.

Apart from the security update, it also brings in improved fingerprint and facial recognition and some enhancements in the camera and image effects.

Oppo Reno 2Z

The recently launched Reno series of Oppo also revealed the Oppo Reno 2Z smartphone. It is powered by the Helio P70 processor and is paired with 8GB of RAM. The device offers 256GB of inbuilt storage and sports a 6.53-inch display. 

Oppo Reno 2Z also features a quad camera 48MP+8MP+2MP+2MP setup at the back and has a pop-up selfie camera that houses a 16MP sensor. Under the hood, the device has a battery capacity of 4000 mAh.

Coming to the latest update received on the Oppo Reno 2Z, it carries the version number A.08 and weighs in around 2.6GB. So, make sure to download the update on a stable WiFi connection.

Moreover, the update also brings in improved fingerprint recognition and performance enhancements. Besides, this update fixes the automatic screen off while using WhatsApp issues as well.

Note that the update is rolled out via OTA in batches and will take some time in hitting all the devices. However, you can always manually check for the update by heading to Settings>> About Phone>> System Updates. If there is a notification for a new update, tap on it to download the latest one.
