The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are possibly the best smartphones from 2021. However, people have been inconspicuously grappling with a potential display defect that turns the screen white, yellow or green.

Most reports about this issue started popping up late last year following the update to iOS 16. And naturally, this was pinned to a buggy software update. However, there had been reported cases prior to iOS 16.

Hello Team, I got iphone 13 pro Max and updated to ios 16.0.3 and after some days my display got white and can’t function anything. without any physical damage i got this issue. Any solution for this problem.

Apple hardly makes grave software mistakes to the tune of bricking hardware. You only have to deal with minor yet sometimes annoying software quirks, so having iPhone screens turning white, green, or yellow was a shocker.

Of course, given the number of reports compared to overall iPhone 13 Pro/Max sales, this was obviously a tiny drop in the ocean. And we all know such cases hardly ever get noticed, especially by big companies like Apple.

This is why we strive to amplify them through regular coverage. And as you may have guessed, we did highlight the issue with iPhone 13 Pro/Max green or yellow screen following the update to iOS 16.

Is iPhone 13 Pro/Max green screen a hardware defect?

But several iterations later, there are still fresh reports doing rounds in official and unofficial Apple forums. This makes me wonder. Is it a far more glaring problem than initially thought?

This is a side by side comparison of my IPHONE 13 experiencing a green discoloration. Sometimes the green tint disappears and comes back again. Is this a software or hardware problem?

Is it time to acknowledge that a particular batch of the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max has a display defect that is turning the screen green, yellow, or white in some cases?

On the surface level, it may seem like Apple has quietly acknowledged this problem. There are some reports from people whose faulty units have been fixed at no cost.

Unfortunately, and for the most part, there are people with an entirely different experience. Apparently, they have been asked to pay for the screen replacement since their devices are out of warranty.

I am facing the exact same issue and sitting at the service centre, now they seem to say since it’s out of warranty you need to pay but this is not my fault it’s the manufacturer fault exactly after the update I am facing this issue. Pls let me know if you got any solution that was provided to you on this.

Free screen replacement for all

This is where Apple needs to step in. Especially since the green screen issue on the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max is possibly a hardware defect. Otherwise, the many iOS 16 updates would have fixed it by now.

From the reports, it’s clear this isn’t a software glitch. It’s also evident that users had no hand in causing the problem. This brings the ball into the manufacturer’s court.

We get it. Acknowledging a hardware defect could damage Apple’s reputation. But given the number of reports, it shouldn’t be a huge concern. After all, it won’t be the first time such a thing is happening in smartphone history.

Besides, there shouldn’t be some people getting free screen replacements while others paying for the same service. It’s even more confusing that those paying are parting ways with different amounts of money.

So the least Apple can do is acknowledge that a small number of iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max units have a screen defect and offer to fix them for free. But only if those affected can produce proof of purchase.

Should Apple offer free iPhone 13 Pro/Max display replacement for green/yellow/white screen issue?
