It has been a week since we saw the official unveiling of the OnePlus Watch, an accessory with bold claims that are bound to put the traditional smartwatches to shame.
One of the boldest claims by this watch is that of battery life. While other smartwatches require to be charged daily, the OnePlus Watch claims 14 days on a single charge and a full day’s use from a 5-minute Warp Charge.
Ahead of the shipping out of these products, a OnePlus Product Manager has taken to the company’s community forum to shine a little more light on the OnePlus Watch.
The in-depth post goes to explain the company’s thought process behind the decision to go with its in-house RTOS system instead of the industry-standard Wear OS from Google.
Along with this, the post goes on to answer some of the most pressing questions surrounding this seemingly futuristic wearable from a company that’s been known to disrupt whichever product segment they venture into.
Some of the matters addressed in the FAQ include the availability of the Always-on Display feature on this watch. On this matter, OnePlus says that it is still evaluating the possibility of having it.
The statement further explains that this feature would have a negative impact on the gadget’s advertised legendary battery life, as expected.
Does it support always-on display?
We’ve heard many users request the always-on display. We are currently looking at things like how it impacts power consumption and are evaluating the possibility to bring this feature in a future OTA. I’m also interested to know your thoughts about how important AOD is to you, considering that it could increase power consumption by almost 50%. Let us know in the thread below.
Another point of interest for many users has been the quick reply feature, a feature that is very useful for such tiny displays that smartwatches are known for.
The Product manager goes on to clarify that this feature is available with a pre-set list of replies to messages. He goes on to confirm that the OnePlus Watch will get the ability to set a customized pre-set reply list via an upcoming OTA.

This OnePlus watch is shaping up to be one of the most interesting wearables for 2021 and we cannot wait to see how it fairs in a market that is jam-packed with various smartwatches and fitness bands.
So when can you grab yourself one of these units? Well, the OnePlus Watch is set to go on sale starting April 15.
In terms of pricing, the Classic edition will cost $159 in black or silver. There will also be a premium “Cobalt Limited Edition” with a cobalt alloy body and synthetic sapphire glass. That one’s price is yet to be disclosed.
