OnePlus, like many other Android OEMs, differentiates itself from the competition using its custom skin on top of the AOSP.

OnePlus’ skin dubbed OxygenOS, comes with a few very useful features and tweaks even though its design has gravitated towards stock Android’s look and feel (or at least it used to.)

One of the useful features baked into OxygenOS is the Parallel apps feature. This lets users run multiple instances of the same apps, effectively allowing them to use the same app in separate profiles.

This is useful in that, it can allow users to have a separate social media account for work and for personal use on the same device thereby negating the need to have two separate devices.

Unfortunately, there seems to be an issue with this feature on various OnePlus devices according to users on the community forums.

According to users of devices such as the OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8T, OnePlus Nord and even the older OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T devices, their units are unable to access various resources when using parallel apps.

This issue has since been brought to the attention of OnePlus and in response to one of the user complaints, a staff member goes to confirm that this has been forwarded to the relevant teams.

We are sorry to hear that and have made a note of it. Our developer team is currently working on this. We will keep you posted regarding the further updates. We appreciate your support and patience in this regard.

For some users, this issue affects a little more than just photos on social media apps as they cannot access any media files.

Many of the users facing this particular issue are on the OnePlus 7 devices running the latest stable release of Android 10-based OxygenOS 10 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7).

We shall continue to keep an eye on this issue and update as and when we get more info on the same so stay tuned to PiunikaWeb.
