Original story (from March 12) follows:

With the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the world is on edge and China is taking majority of the hit. Chinese companies are also struggling to maintain their devices across the globe due to this issue.

We have seen a number of updates delayed because of this Corona Virus but some companies, despite everything, are really trying to keep things going. One such company is OnePlus.

A few highlights from the changelog is the fact that OnePlus is bringing Live Caption to the OnePlus 7T and the 7T Pro. This feature debuted on Android 10 for Google’s Pixel devices. It uses Android 10’s built-in language processing to add subtitles to any supported video, even when the device is offline.

This update is still based on the February 2020 Android security patch level. Of course, we should see the March update rolling out at some point.

This being an Open Beta, users with supported devices do not need an invite or to fill in a form to be part of the Beta.

Users who want to opt into this Open Beta can do so by installing the update manually. Below is a simple step-by-step procedure on how to do this. It is worth noting that this is still very much a Beta and might not be daily-driver material.

Here’s how to go from Stable release to Open Beta via Local OTA Update method. It is worth noting that this upgrade method will NOT erase data, but please be sure to backup first.

1. Download the latest ROM upgrade zip package from the specified server.
2. Copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone storage.
3. Go to Settings -> System -> System Updates -> Click top-right icon -> Local upgrade -> Click on the corresponding installation package -> upgrade -> System upgrade completed to 100%.
4. After the upgrade is complete, click Restart.
5. Update successful.
