On paper, OnePlus devices have been absolute kings, often packing the very latest top-tier chips from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 series and equally generous RAM and storage options (except the Nord devices of course).

This raw performance often comes at rather affordable price points, at least compared to the equally spec’d offers from the competition.

With this, OnePlus devices have been a natural go-to for gamers on a budget, a budding demographic that OnePlus had to start building in features onto OxygenOS to cater to these users’ needs.

OnePlus partnered with the professional eSports organization, Fnatic, and as a result, OnePlus 7 devices came with a gamer toolbox dubbed Fnatic mode.

Since then, we’ve seen all OnePlus devices getting these features in some form and this has since been a staple for gamers on OnePlus devices.

Now, it looks like change is in the air as OnePlus is now renaming this Fnatic on the OnePlus 7 to Pro Gaming Mode, at least in the recently released OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 3 based on Android 11 for the OnePlus 7 series.

When XDA reached out to OnePlus for a comment on this new development, OnePlus went on to confirm the conclusion of the company’s partnership with Fnatic.

“OnePlus’ partnership with Fnatic has come to its natural and mutual conclusion. Users of OnePlus devices who have enjoyed our Fnatic mode will continue to receive the same features and capabilities but under a new Pro Gaming Mode name. The naming update will transition across devices starting from the 6 series. Fnatic has been a supportive partner to OnePlus, and we look forward to the opportunity to collaborate again in the future.”

From this, users of OnePlus devices who have been fans of the Fnatic mode might want to rest easy knowing that while the feature is being renamed, all their features are still intact.

It remains unclear how soon this change will be trickling down to other OxygenOS 11-eligible devices but seeing as OnePlus 7 has gotten this with an Open Beta build, others should follow soon.
