Oculus is the virtual reality platform (owned by Meta) that offers both hardware and software, seeking a complete and immersive VR experience.

The initial activation of Oculus devices implies receiving a verification code by email. But, according to multiple reports, some users never receive the code, so they cannot use their headsets.

Oculus devices verification email not received by some users

Users affected by the problem report that can’t activate their newly purchased Oculus device, and that nothing they tried to solve it worked (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

Oculus Account Problem

I got an Oculus this morning for Christmas and wanted to set it up. I downloaded the app and it won’t let me create an Oculus account. It keeps popping up aessage that says that something went wrong and to try again. I tried to then go onto the Oculus website to try my luck and I got to where they would send me an email verification and it never came through. I need some help on what I can do to fix this issue so that I can play on my Oculus.

Also, if the affected users try to register an account through the app instead of through the web, all they get is a ‘something went wrong, try again’ error message.

The problem also affects some current Oculus users who want to modify their accounts. After all, completing the process also requires a verification email, but they never get it.

Tried to change my username but didn’t get a verification email

I tried to change my username for oculus but when it asked for the verification code sent by email I never got the email. I’ve tried many times over the past like 7 hours. Has anyone else had this? Or an idea of how to deal with it?

Oculus team is aware of verification email issue

Recently, the Oculus team confirmed that they are aware of the annoying bug. But, they are just realizing it, so they will start to look into it, and will share updates on the matter.

Hey Tpvan, thanks for reaching out. We see you are having issues with verification emails. The engineering team identified this issue recently and is working on a fix now. We don’t have much info to share yet but we’ll let the community know as soon as we do have more info.

It should be noted that this problem is not exactly new. There are reports that describe the same situation for many months. So, it is striking that the Oculus team took so long to realize it (1, 2).

Some Oculus players can’t download Horizon Worlds

Horizon Worlds is the first Meta (formerly Facebook) game with the metaverse in mind. It is designed for VR environments where players can share and interact with each other.

Since January 9, the beta of the game has been available to all Oculus players who meet two conditions: live in the United States/Canada and be over 18 years old (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

But, some Oculus device users report not being able to download the game. When they look for it in the store, they only have the option of adding it to their ‘wishlist’ (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6).

So, for now, it only remains to wait for the company to work on solving both situations. Finally, if there is any change related to the matter in the next few days, we will update this article.
