OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) is a useful tool that facilitates the work of many streamers who take advantage of its capabilities for recording, streaming, and customizing the streaming environment.

OBS is also free and open source software. So, even other developers can use the original code to create their alternate versions (like Streamlabs).

However, OBS users have been experiencing an annoying ‘Failed to load channel information for Twitch’ error message when trying to use the tool on their Twitch channels for the past few hours.

The bug has been affecting many Twitch streamers who often use OBS as a fundamental work tool in their day to day.

Basically, the glitch in question prevents OBS from accessing the necessary data from the user’s Twitch account to function properly. So they are being unable to stream on Twitch (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15).

Error: Failed to load channel information for Twitch Not Found:

I wanted to stream on twitch, but when I logged on I got the error in the title. Didn’t have this problem in the past, and was wondering if it was anything I did, or it was on Twitch’s side and I just have to wait. I couldn’t find this exact error anywhere so if anyone could help that’d be great.

Please help. Getting an error: Failed to load channel information for Twitch

Hello all. I use OBS Studio. I was getting ready to start my stream and noticed that none of my docks were working. So I tried disconnecting and reconnecting my account and am now getting this error message. I’ve done some googling and and tried the recommendations that I’ve found which include: resetting my stream key (wasn’t even using it) and also making sure that I have 2FA set up (already did).

OBS Twitch error reportedly addressed on v27.2 update

However, if you are experiencing the issue, you can try updating OBS to its latest version 27.2. According to reports, a recent change in the Twitch API is the cause of the problem.

So, OBS 27.2 should be adapted to the new parameters of the latest Twitch API, and everything should work correctly.

Update 1 (Sept. 29, 2022)

04:03 pm (IST): Many players were reporting (1, 2, 3, 4) an issue where OBS kept throwing ‘Failed to load channel information for Twitch’ error. However, it appears that the issue was with Twitch which has since been resolved.
