SmartTubeNext (also known simply as ‘SmartTube’) is a popular app for TV Boxes/TV Sticks. It is designed to enjoy YouTube in a more comfortable, practical way with additional possibilities.

Taking the above into account, many users of devices such as the NVIDIA Shield TV, Amazon Fire TV, and others, have it as one of their favorite apps for daily use.

But, in the last few days, users of the app have been facing an annoying issue. More specifically, there is a ‘ModernClientData’ error message that appears as a persistent pop-up on SmartTubeNext.

NVIDIA Shield TV SmartTubeNext ‘ModernClientData’ error

According to multiple reports, users of the SmartTubeNext app on Android TV devices (such as the NVIDIA Shield TV) and Amazon Fire TV Stick devices suffer from the issue.

A persistent pop up with a ‘ModernClientData’ error message appears over the content being played. So, it directly interferes with the viewing experience.

Hello,
Since 2022/01/26 I am getting an error asking to send some “modernclientdata” file for support. I have the latest beta version 14.04 of STN installed on my AmazonTV Firestick.

The app is still running fine, but the notification appears very frequently and it’s very annoying: it pops up even when playing videos on other apps from FireTV, like the movie player of Amazon Prime itself.

It doesn’t have any other side effect that I know, but the notification is too frequent and annoying.

I have SmartTubeNext installed on a Philips Android television and was using 13.xx until I launched it today and an error came up which I didn’t get chance to read fully so I thought that maybe I should see if there was an update.

An update to 14.xx was available which I installed but when I tried to launch it, the screen went black and then the home screen reappeared. It kept happening so I did a full reboot of the television and it still happens – so I can’t even see what the full version number is but it may be 14.04 but it was whatever was available today, 26th January 2022.

On the good side, the error affects the interface, but not the operation of the app. But, anyway, it is quite annoying that the pop-up appears constantly while watching videos.

Some users report that, after the most recent SmartTubeNext update (available for a few hours), the issue has already been resolved. However, there is still no official word from the developers confirming this.

Same message. Notice to upgrade to 14.08 but when I try I get a popup that says “There was a problem parsing the package”.
UPDATE: Update 14.08 just installed. Now I dont have the pop up for “………Modernclientdata.”
