However, some are unhappy as they are facing some problems with these TV units.

White spots on OLED TVs in dark scenes

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), multiple OLED TV owners are experiencing an issue where white spots or pixels appear on their screens.

It has been alleged that white spots appear whenever a studio logo is displayed in a game or when one is watching content in darker conditions.

Users also claim that this is really noticeable when the screen itself is completely dark. Apparently, some are facing this problem with their newly purchased smart TVs as well.

This has understandably made them frustrated and annoyed. And those affected have taken to web forums to express their concerns.

One OLED smart TV owner says that running the Pixel refresher could only temporarily solve their problem.

Those affected have tried tinkering with TV settings, swapping HDMI cables and using different HDMI ports, updating the firmware, and resetting their device, but to no avail.

Some are now even thinking of getting their TVs replaced under the warranty period.

Troubleshooting steps

Sony says that while viewing the TV in a dark area or with a black screen, one may witness uneven brightness. The company claims this to be a natural condition and not a manufacturing or shipping defect in the TV unit.

And luckily, there are a few tweaks that can be made to minimize this condition.

On the other hand, it may happen that some defects are only noticeable when an all-white or all-black picture is displayed.

Also, if one is thinking of opting for a replacement unit, then there are high chances that the new replacement can have equal or more defective pixels, that too, in a very noticeable position.
