A new TV anime series will release this year from the popular WIXOSS franchise, adding to its already rich content universe. The announcement came from their official Twitter handle.

The new promotional video that came with the announcement gives a quick flashback into the previous WIXOSS series, then quickly changing pace to introduce silhouettes of fresh new character designs for the upcoming TV anime. The new PV is currently streaming on Takara Tomy’s channel.

Simultaneously the franchise also shared a presentation with more details on ther upcomign events that went live on Takara Tomy’s official YouTube channel.

WIXOSS or ‘Wish Across’ is a multimedia universe created by Takara Tomy in collaboration with J.C Staff and Warner Entertainment Japan, which centers around a trading card game that Takara Tomy launched in 2014.

The franchise had simultaneously released several TV-sized anime series such as selector infected WIXOSS, selector spread WIXOSS, and selector destructed WIXOSS from 2012 to 2016. A sequel anime series under the name Lostorage incited WIXOSS, and Lostorage conflated WIXOSS were also released later, with the latter airing in 2018.

The shows fall under dark fantasy, sci-i psychological thriller genres. WIXOSS series typically follows players of the card game who battle out with fighters called ‘LRIGs’, and the plot progresses with adding unique challenges for the players or anomalies within the game universe.

In the classic Holy Grail battle-style introduced by the Fate/Stay Night universe, the ultimate player gets to fulfill any one of their wishes, but should they lose, their wishes become a curse. J.C Staff produces the animes coming out of this franchise, and the first series was directed by Takuya Satō and written by Mari Okada.
