Netflix is one of the biggest names in the video streaming industry. Launched in 1997, the OTT platform had more than 221.8 million subscribers as of December 2021.

In the United States, the company still offers DVD and Blu-ray rentals that are delivered via the United States Postal Service.

It is available on almost every platform including Smart TVs. That being said, LG Smart TV owners are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5) that the Netflix app is not working after a recent update.

Users say that they are not getting any error code when they try to launch the app and that it crashes back to the home screen. The issue is making it impossible for Netflix subscribers to watch content on their LG Smart TV.

Reports also suggest that other apps apart from Netflix are working just fine. Many tried clearing the app data and cache but the issue still persists.

Below are some reports from LG Smart TV owners who are unable to use the Netflix app.

Upon further investigation, we came across a workaround that might help resolve the crashing issue. It requires users to uninstall the Netflix app from their TV and download it again via the LG Content Store.

I had the same problem two hours ago and was able to solve it by uninstalling the app and downloading it again from the LG Content Store 🤙🏻 Neither LG nor @Netflixhelps ever responded to my message 🙄

We hope Netflix and LG work together and fix the issue with the app as soon as possible.
