MWIII players are reporting a bug with the slide-only feature of the game, which is forcing players to “dolphin dive” around the map. Players are sharing their frustration on social media in hopes of finding a resolution.

MWIII bugged slide issue forcing ‘dolphin dive’

In Modern Warfare 3 (MW3), the slide feature, along with the ability to cancel the slide, is part of the game’s movement mechanics. The slide is a tactical maneuver that allows players to move rapidly and avoid enemy fire.

It can be performed by rapidly pressing the crouch button twice and jumping. This movement mechanic has been well-received by the community and is considered an essential skill for highly skilled players.

However, according to the reports, the slide feature is not working properly, resulting in partial movement for the players. According to the player, instead of sliding the input, it results in a dolphin dive.

The dolphin dive is a tactical maneuver in the Call of Duty series that allows players to move rapidly toward the ground. It can be performed by sprinting and pressing down on the prone button. The ability was first introduced in the original Black Ops game and has been a fan-favorite feature ever since.

Although the reports are piling up, there hasn’t been any official statement from the developers regarding this issue so far.

However, here are some tips to improve your slide experience in MW3:

  • Check your settings: Ensure that the “Slide and Dive Behavior” is set to “Standard” or “Inverted” according to your preference. This can be found under “Options” > “Controller” or “Keyboard and Mouse” settings.
  • Use Tactical Pads: Equipping Tactical Pads can grant you full ADS while sliding and increased slide distance. This can help with slide canceling and make the slide function more responsive.
  • Slide cancel techniques: To perform a slide cancel, quickly press the crouch button twice, followed by the jump button. For example, on PlayStation, this would mean pressing the circle button twice and then the X button once.
