If you are into collectible card games, you must have heard of Magic: The Gathering Arena. Often known as MTG Arena, it is developed by Wizards Digital Games Studio and published by Wizards of the Coast.

Players can collect cards either using booster packs, in-game achievements or buy them using microtransactions. Released in 2021 for mobile, the multiplayer game pits players against one other.

Having said that, MTG Arena players are now reporting (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) that the game is crashing and freezing on iOS and iPadOS devices. Many say the crashes are completely unpredictable.

The problem is making it impossible for competitive players to play the game since they might lose a winning match. Some say they tried using generic solutions such as clearing cache and reinstalling the game but nothing seems to help right now.

It’s so frustrating how often the iPad arena app crashes. It seems like every couple games the app will crash on me. Does this happen to others who use the iPad app? I was just in the middle of a draft and had a great deck, on the last pack it crashed on me and I had to restart the draft. I already had a whole deck I was excited to play. It happens so often. Sometimes I’ll be winning a game and it will just crash on me and I can’t get back into the game, and it records that I lost. So frustrating, wizards please put some time and money into fixing the crashing problems.

Is it just me or has the iOS client gotten WAY less stable since the Kamigawa update? I’ve crashed before, but since the latest update I’ve had cases where I’ve crashed out of a match and then no matter how many times I tried to rejoin I crashed right back out until the match was over (presumably my opponent got to enjoy getting roped and was wondering why the hell I would do that on the brink of victory, or just figured I was salty in the ones I was losing).

Unfortunately, MTG Arena developers are yet to comment on the matter. We hope they soon acknowledge the issue and fix it in a future update since the random crashes are ruining the gameplay experience for many.
