[Updated] Motorola Edge 40 Pro (Moto Edge+ 2023) turning off on its own or having Wi-Fi issues? You aren't alone

Recent user reports have revealed that the newly launched Motorola Edge 40 Pro is randomly turning off and has Wi-Fi issues.

According to the reports, the smartphone is abruptly turning off and losing Wi-Fi connections on its own.

My Motorola edge 40 Pro turns off by itself at different times of the day and turns on again only by holding down the power button. Motorola edge 40 Pro turns off even if the battery is almost fully charged. (Source)

The phone started turning off again even after I reinstalled the OS, this is a very serious problem because I lose calls and alarms. Another problem is with IP 68 protection, after 1 minute of shooting in small water phone has broken down. The screen made some lines and didn’t turn on. It’s all gotten really frustrating. (Source)

Some reports suggest that the problem has been persistent since the latest update went live for the device. Especially for those who are experiencing the Wi-Fi disconnection issue.

According to user complaints, following the Android 13-based July security patch, the device is having issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks.

After the July Android 13 security patch 1 update, the wifi from my Canon R3 will not connect to my Edge 40 Pro. Any ideas? it all still works on my Moto G9 which is running Android 11 (Source)

So far, there’s not much much evidence pointing towards a particular cause for either of the two issues discussed here.

Usually Wi-Fi connectivity issues pop up due to various reasons, including both software and hardware issues. The same goes for smartphones randomly rebooting.

The Motorola Moto Edge 40 Pro appears to be a bug-free device for the most part. However, these problems along with the Android Auto USB connection issues we covered back in July highlight the fact that no phone is flawless.

Taking account of the vague nature of the problem and the lack of response from the manufacturer, it is currently not possible to determine its cause.

We’ll keep track of the situation and post an update if and when there are any further developments on the matter.

12:15 pm (IST): Fortunately, Motorola has officially acknowledged the issue with Wi-Fi and is currently investigating it. Although no ETA for the bug fix has been provided.
