Motorola Android 12 update unlikely to bring 'Ready For', RGB light notification, Dolby Atmos, Adaptive sound, AoD & HDR 10+ enhancements

For years now, Motorola has delivered a near-stock Android experience with a few tweaks and additional features. However, the smartphone manufacturer plans to change it with My UX 3.0.

Based on Android 12, Motorola’s Android skin will bring in several new features with ‘Ready For’ such as redefined gestures, enhanced casting, remote control functionality, seamless screen and file sharing, and game mode.

Having said that, a Motorola Forum Administrator has shared some new information on the Motorola forum saying that not all phones will necessarily get the ‘Ready For’ features with the Android 12 update.

Moreover, it looks like some popularly requested features such as RGB light notification like the ones found on Mi devices won’t be coming either.

The admin went on to say that enhanced Always on Display, Dolby Atmos and HDR enhancements won’t be coming either.

Also, it looks like the Pixel exclusive Adaptive Sound won’t make it to the Android 12 update on the Motorola Edge 20 Fusion. Here is what the Motorola Admin had to say:

I want to ensure I’ve set the right expectations. I know that Android 12 will bring some new features natively with the OS. However, for stuff like RGB lighting and Atmos support, Always on Display, newly supported features for “Ready For”, or enhancements to HDR, it’s unlikely to be added. Does that mean things won’t be added? No, but I don’t want you to get your hopes up that the phone is going to get a bunch of new functionalities. I hope that makes sense.

They added,

Adaptive Sound is a pixel-exclusive feature, so it’s unlikely that the edge 20 fusion will get it. However, I will make sure the audio/software team sees this feedback as well.

If we look at the display section of My UX 3.0 based on Android 12, we can see that Always on Display might not make it to the stable release since it was also not added in the test builds.

But this does not mean Motorola won’t be bringing over new features at all. Motorola seems to be embracing Google’s Material You theme engine and further enhancing personalization and customization options with the ability to set custom color palettes, fonts, and grid sizes.

While all this was information was shared when asked about the Android 12 update on Motorola Edge 20 Fusion and Lite devices, it looks like the information might be applicable to all devices.

That being said, Motorola will start rolling out the Android 12 starting February 22 next year until all eligible phones get the update.
