Motorola recently released the Android 13 update for Moto Edge 30 Pro (also known as Motorola Edge+ 2022 in US) which claims to have introduced bug fixes for many issues.

However, it appears that some glitches remain unresolved despite the update.

Moto Edge 30 Pro excessive battery drain and overheating issues

Some Moto Edge 30 Pro owners (1,2,3,4,5,6) had been experiencing excessive battery drain and overheating issues on their devices running on Android 12.

Users complained that their device’s battery drained quickly when in use or left in idle mode. Some even claimed that this didn’t happen as much without a SIM card in the smartphone.

In addition to this, the phone overheated when used for day-to-day activities such as browsing, communicating, making online payments or streaming content.

Allegedly, the temperature of their smartphones used to be around 40°C, even when no apps were opened, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and NFC were disabled, and adaptive brightness was on.

The phone was overheating when I was setting up the payment apps PhonePe and Google pay. While surfing LinkedIn through Chrome it had a slight heating.

The battery life on Edge 30 Pro is a joke. It keeps losing battery when battery saver is ON and phone is not in use.

And by looking at the recent reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), it appears that users are experiencing these problems even after installing the recent Android 13 update.

As per the claims, it appears that the update has worsened the problems as users are now witnessing an increased battery drain and overheating problem.

This happens even when one plays games for a short duration, clicks pictures or record videos, surfing the web, or using the phone immediately after charging.

Along with this, some are unable to get audio output from their device when playing a song, video or even a ringtone. All they can hear is the ‘Hello Moto’ startup tune on booting their device.

Unfortunately, Motorola has not yet officially acknowledged this issue and we did not come across any potential workarounds for the time being.

But we are hopeful that Motorola will soon resolve the excessive battery drain and overheating issues on the Moto Edge 30 Pro (Moto Edge+ 2022) devices.
