Players of Mortal Kombat 1 have reported an issue where they are unable to equip relics in Invasion Mode. This problem has become quite severe and has caught the attention of the developers. While waiting for a fix to be issued, here are some potential workarounds.
Mortal Kombat 1 ‘Invasion Mode’ relics bug
In Mortal Kombat 1, Invasion Mode is a game mode where players can collect relics and talismans by participating in the campaign. At the start of a new Invasion season, players retain all their existing relics and talismans in their inventory.
There are a total of 60 relics scattered throughout the realms of Mortal Kombat, each associated with the characters’ stories and backgrounds. Some relics provide XP bonuses, while others offer various buffs and bonuses.
However, according to player reports, the relics appear to be malfunctioning. When attempting to equip these relics in the loadout menu, the game crashes or experiences sudden server loss or connection errors.

The error message suggests that the game is unable to establish a connection with the servers. Players have also complained that this error forces them to exit the game, resulting in the loss of saved data and progression.
How to fix the issue?
The developers are aware of the growing number of issues and have acknowledged the bug. According to the official support forum for Mortal Kombat 1, the issue is currently under investigation, and it is expected that a fix will be released soon.
In the meantime, the community has suggested a workaround that may provide some relief.
According to a player on Reddit, players can try the following method to potentially resolve the problem:
- Go to the allocate stat points screen, even if the player has none.
- Toggle the setting from automatic to manual.
- Equip a relic.
- Exit the fighter select screen.
- Players can then revert back to the automatic setting if they wish.
It’s important to note that this workaround is an unofficial solution, and there is no guarantee that it will work.
