MLB.TV is one of the most popular options for those looking to stream the ongoing baseball season. Despite its popularity, the platform doesn’t have the best reputation in terms of stability and overall viewing experience.

Users have been reporting several issues with the web, mobile, and TV versions. For some, this is negatively affecting their MLB experience and forcing them to switch to other alternatives.

MLB.TV app not working

Some MLB.TV users are complaining (1,2,3,4,5,6) that the app is not working correctly or broken at the moment. It experiences various streaming-related issues that often pop up during live games.

Several users report getting various error codes when trying to watch the content they paid for. Either these errors appear during commercials or when opening a live stream on the app or website.

Some are getting the ‘Network error’ even if they have a fairly stable and fast internet connection. Naturally, these errors add a major full-stop to their entertainment.

@MLBTV Network error, please try again on my google tv. But works fine on other devices. Clearly not a network error. Clearly your app is just bad and broken.

Every time I try and watch the Mets, I can’t even get to the game. It gives me a “network error” message.

Streams freezing, crashing, or experiencing audio issues are a common sight on the platform. According to reports, the application has been broken for years yet the developers have done little to fix it.

We previously covered an issue where the MLB.TV app stopped working properly with Apple TV 4K when using HomePod as the default audio device.

Unfortunately, the problems don’t end here. There’s a new addition to the MLB.TV subscription model that further annoys users.

Blackout issues

According to the new MLB Blackout Policy, certain matches (primarily those away or potentially irrelevant to your location), special events, and postseason games will not be available in the US.

This received major backlash (1,2,3) from the community and users continue to report their frustration with this change. What’s even worse is that some are getting incorrect blackouts on their MLB.TV app.

The issue may also pop up for those who live close to the game’s location or outside of the US.

Sadly, MLB.TV developers are yet to comment on the ongoing issues with the app and website. We’ll keep an eye on this matter and update this story to reflect noteworthy developments.
