San Diego Studio recently launched Update 10 for MLB The Show 23, which brings a number of bug fixes and changes as well as some new content.

For instance, the latest patch adds new Pittsburgh Pirates City Connect uniforms and a Draft Lottery experience to the Franchise mode.

In addition to this, the recent update also updated the commentary team with some new lines and fixed a glitch that made CPU teams wear their home uniforms every game in Mini Seasons.

However, some are disappointed with the gameplay.

MLB The Show 23 grind for cards too difficult or unsatisfying

MLB The Show 23 allows players to collect cards of real-life MLB players, which can be used to build a team in the Diamond Dynasty mode.

One can earn such cards through various means, such as, by completing challenges, opening packs, and much more.

However, by looking at the reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) it appears that some players find the grind for these cards too difficult or unsatisfying.

They have expressed their disappointment with the changes introduced in MLB The Show 23, particularly the increased reliance on packs and stubs to obtain top-tier cards.

Gamers argue that the challenges are too difficult and that the packs are costly as well. As a result, they feel that they are not getting enough value for their time and efforts.

Players also believe that this monetization approach unjustly affects non-paying gamers, as it creates a situation where the best cards are locked behind a paywall.

I feel like pack luck has been awful this year. Opened over 400 packs easily and the only high diamond I’ve pulled is Kaiju Hank twice. Even the chase packs have sucked this year and all the “OP” cards are hidden behind packs now. Anyone else feel the same?

One of those impacted says that despite opening over 400 packs, they have only managed to pull the high-rated diamond card Kaiju Hank twice.

They also claim that the packs that are supposed to contain sought-after cards have been underwhelming as well.

Another adds that a majority of their opponents already possess a complete squad of 99-rated players, regardless of whether they have completed the set 2 collection or not.

Does anyone else feel like there’s not a whole lot to grind for? Yes I have the set 2 collection done. But it seems like everyone online is rocking a full 99 squad with or without the collection and rn it seems all the players being released are not worth grinding for.

Some have even advised against purchasing packs and stubs until the game’s monetization model is improved.

They believe that doing so will send a strong message to the developers, encouraging them to reconsider their approach and create a more equitable system.

However, others state that changing your perspective will help alleviate some of the frustration.

According to them, even though a 92-rated team captain might not generate much excitement on its own, considering it as the final piece needed to complete a set will add a sense of accomplishment.
