MIUI is a never-ending software project which receives new updates every 3 days or so in its beta branch. These updates bring along under the hood improvements, bug fixes, and of course, feature additions.

We previously highlighted how the MIUI 12.5 beta update 21.5.17 added an option to turn off fingerprint for lock screen and use it only for app lock and payments.

This was followed by another update that added an option to pause reverse wireless charging when battery percentage hits a certain level. It also brought along a new floating window UI.

And now, a couple of weeks later, we have got yet another update with yet another feature dump. It carries the version number 21.6.16 and we have highlighted all of its mention-worthy changes below.

Support for Samsung on Mi Share on MIUI 12.5 beta

Mi Share is what Xiaomi has dubbed the file transfer utility that is built into MIUI. This can be accessed from the quick settings/Control Center tile labeled as “Mi Share”.

The utility is not to be confused with Xiaomi’s ShareMe which is a standalone app that can be installed from the Play Store. ShareMe is installable on all devices, Mi Share is not.

Anyway, Xiaomi has been real busy adding support for file transfers to more and more OEMs on Mi Share. We previously highlighted how an update to the utility added support for ZTE, Hisense, and Asus.

And now the latest set of MIUI 12.5 beta builds introduced the Mi Share app update v1.4.7 that also adds support for Samsung devices.

All in all, you can now transfer files from your Xiaomi/Poco device to Mi Notebooks, Vivo, Oppo, Realme, Meizu, OnePlus, ZTE, Asus, Samsung, and of course, Xiaomi. Or simply put – to almost every popular Android brand.

To download Mi Share 1.4.7, head over to this Telegram link. Do keep in mind that the app version may not work on global ROMs.

Security app tweaks and new shortcut within Settings app

With MIUI 12.5 beta 21.6.15, it is now possible to access all the Security app directly through a new section in the Settings menu.

You also get new shortcuts to options about security within the Security app along with a few minor other tweaks. Check out all of the changes through the demo below.
