Original story (published on January 11, 2023) follows:
Founded by Bill Gates, Microsoft is one of the most successful and popular computer software companies across the globe. It also offers a variety of products for homes and businesses.
Though the brand proudly makes its way to the hearts of umpteen customers, its products do come across some bugs and issues that trouble the users.
For instance, we recently highlighted an issue where Microsoft’s OneDrive was down for some.
And now, a similar bug is affecting some Microsoft users while trying to reset their password on the website.
Microsoft incorrect codes
Some Microsoft users are reporting (1,2,3,4,5,6,7) an issue in which they are receiving incorrect or 6-digit 2FA codes when attempting to reset their passwords or log into their accounts.
Reset password. Sends a 6 digit code. Requires 7 digit code…
Password reset process, enter last 4 digits of phone number, txt sent with 6 digit code. Entered for reset but requires 7 digit code. Ridiculous.

Password Change is requesting ID Verification. Email has 6 digit code verification is requesting 7 digit code.
When I am trying to update my password MS send me an email with a 6 digit code.
When I enter that 6 digit code in, the verification says it needs to be 7 digits!!

This is causing confusion and frustration for users, as the codes do not match the 7-digit codes that they are expecting to receive.
Users have taken to social media and forums to discuss their experiences and attempt to find a resolution.
A similar problem is also affecting others who were expecting 4-digit codes but received a 6-digit code instead.
