We purchased our OnePlus 6 within a couple of weeks of its launch. So far it has been a smooth journey with the device. That’s, however, not to say there haven’t been any issues, but overall nothing major.

For its part, OnePlus has been nothing short of excellent in delivering frequent updates that have quite successfully taken care of both major and minor issues. However, there has been one problem that’s plaguing my unit since launch.

It’s more of an annoyance I’d say. What happens is, regardless of the app you are using, whenever you try scrolling slowly in a consistent manner, the scroll jitters for a split second. Specifically, I have noticed scrolling getting too fast all of a sudden.

I raised a flag with my team when I first noticed this issue, but since the problem rears its ugly head only while slow scrolling, we didn’t pay much attention. I also remember somebody even asking me to change my style of scrolling.

But now, it has come to light that many more users are annoyed by this problem. While a few users have raised this concern on the official OnePlus forum (1, 2), there’s a dedicated thread on XDA where multiple users have confirmed that scrolling on OnePlus 6 is jittery or laggy.

Hi, I just got a OP6 on Friday and it really is an amazing device, but no matter what app I’m in, I get extremely stuttery/jittery scrolling. It happens in Settings, Chrome, XDA, basically anything that has a list or scrolls. Is there any way to fix this?

Hi, I noticed that there is a scroll lag present on my Oneplus 6 when scrolling webpages in a browser, tried many browsers but the lag is still there, or scrolling in a Playstore list. The lag or jitter happens for a second when scrolling animation is starting or ending (webpage is fully loaded). I also tried factory reset and lag is still there. When I turned off javascript in a browser it helped a little but not completely. Scrolling in browser is not fully smooth as on other phones

Hello, Is anyone else experiencing short lag or jitter when scrolling in a internet browser, especially when doing a short/small scroll? Its not the jelly-lag type of lag but its like scroll freezes for a second and it only happens on the end of the scroll animation, it jitters for a second and then continues the scoll animation smoothly. I did a factory reset, tried other browsers, the jitter remains. Tried on other phones-no lag

There is a serious software issue with op6 phones. Scrolling up webpages slowly and even apps cause the screen to jitter and jump up

Following is a user recorded video that shows the problem (observe the first time when scrolling speed picks up suddenly – that’s exactly what I experience) :

Agreed, this is a minor annoyance, and definitely not a deal breaker. But when you’re reading something on your phone and are totally into it, and at that time scrolling behaves erratic, that’s when you realize how irritating the problem is.

I am wondering why is this problem not fixed yet? Is the scrolling experience jittery on your OnePlus 6 unit as well? Let us know in comments below.
