Apple recently started rolling out the macOS Big Sur 11.3 update with a bunch of improvements.

However, users have been facing an issue with Apple’s IDE, Xcode, ever since the very first Big Sur update.

It seems that users have to reinstall Xcode Command Line Tools after every macOS Big Sur update.

As per multiple reports, users are unable to use development tools like Git unless they reinstall Xcode Command Line Tools.

Basically, users have to run the Xcode-select —install command to install the command line tools after every macOS Big Sur incremental update.

Now, it seems that this issue might have been addressed in the latest macOS Big Sur 11.3.1 update.

A Reddit user has said that the latest macOS update has removed the need to reinstall Xcode Command Line Tools after every update.

It is, however, unclear whether the said change has indeed been implemented in the latest macOS update or not.

The macOS Big Sur security update version 11.3.1 started rolling out pretty recently but its release notes do not outline any changes related to Xcode.

So, it is possible that since the latest macOS update did not upgrade Xcode, its functionality remained intact as well.

This might be the reason why users did not have to reinstall Xcode Command Line Tools after the 11.3.1 update.

More precisely when I update to 11.3, the updater had the ability to update “the Tools” along. And when from 11.3 to 11.3.1, there were no update for “the Tools”, so it just kept.
