The recently released dark fantasy action RPG, Lords of the Fallen, by Hexworks is reportedly having a lot of crash and performance issues. Although the game is getting a pretty positive reception from critics, these issues have been hampering the game’s perception among the players.

Lords of the Fallen has severe crash and performance issues

According to various reports on social media sites, the players are facing severe issues as the game is crashing very frequently. Due to this, the players are losing hours of progression, and their experience with the game is getting hampered.

Lords of the Fallen crash report

Lords of the Fallen is currently available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows. The crashing reports are not specific to any of these platforms. However, the majority of the cases seem to stem from PC and PS5 players.

Pre-update state

Some of the reports also say that the game was relatively stable before the update. The last update’s code may have some discrepancies that are causing the game to malfunction so often. That is why they are urging the developers to reroll the game back to its previous state.

Other than frequent crashes, the players are also reporting that the game is also having very questionable performance. It is reportedly having stuttering graphics and other issues that are hampering its performance.

How do I fix these issues?

As the reports pile up, the issues have finally gotten the attention of the developers. In an extensive post on Reddit, the developers have shared that they are working on a new update that could improve the issues.

According to the post, the new update will be packed with improvements aimed at enhancing stability, performance, balancing, and more. They said they understand that some of the players are still encountering crashes and experiencing occasional performance hiccups. They promised that they are actively collaborating with their partners and resolving these issues as quickly as possible.

However, until this new patch is issued, players can try these methods to temporarily solve the issues:

  • Select the Auto-Set feature for the graphic settings.
  • If you are experiencing crashes on startup, temporarily disable your antivirus software to see if that’s what’s causing it. If it is, whitelist Lord of the Fallen in your antivirus software.
  • Verify the integrity of the essential game files required to run Lord of the Fallen.

In addition, some players have reported that turning off the Nvidia Turbulence feature can fix the crashing issue.

Other than that, it is recommended to check if the player’s PC meets the minimum hardware requirements to run Lords of the Fallen. If they are still encountering problems with Lords of the Fallen, they can try to lower their reflection and global illumination quality to medium to disable ray tracing in hopes of better performance.
