The wait is over, as LineageOS 21, based on the latest Android 14 QPR1, is now available for your favorite Google Pixel devices and dozens of others from the likes of LG, Motorola, OnePlus, Samsung, and Xiaomi. This exciting update brings a wave of improvements, including a brand new gallery app, camera enhancements, and a system-wide Material You makeover.

Among the standout features, the Aperture camera app steals the spotlight with HDR video recording capabilities, letting you capture stunning, balanced footage no matter the lighting conditions. Plus, you get configurable volume button gestures, UI rotation support, an enhanced QR scanner, and support for Assistant voice actions. Additionally, the update introduces a new gallery app, Glimpse, which replaces Gallery2, promising a seamless and visually appealing media browsing experience.

LineageOS 21 update also brings Google’s Material You makeovers across multiple apps, including Aperture, Calculator, Contacts, Dialer, Eleven, Jelly, LatinIME, and Messaging, offering users a personalized and aesthetically pleasing interface. Other notable enhancements include the integration of Brave as a search engine in the Jelly browser, improved per-website location permissions, and a refined side pop-out expanding volume panel. Moreover, LineageOS 21 tags along the latest February 2024 security patch, ensuring your devices remain protected against the most recent threats.

LineageOS 21 is compatible with over a hundred Android devices from various manufacturers. This includes multiple Pixel and other devices that are no longer receiving official updates from Google and other respective brands. That said, the new update is available for Pixel 2 and later devices, including the latest Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro models. Even the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet are supported, but work on the original Pixel is still in progress.

Although exciting news, it’s important to note that installing a custom ROM requires technical expertise and may void your device’s warranty. So always proceed with caution and ensure you have a backup before flashing the latest LineageOS 21 on your Google Pixel or other eligible Android device. You can check out the full changelog and list of supported devices on the official Lineage website.
