Despite being the company’s flagship smartphone, the LG Velvet 5G is yet to get the update to Android 11 in many regions.
The update was released to users in South Korea towards the tail-end of January and is taking a bit longer than expected to reach users in other regions.
LG has also not shared any details regarding the availability of the update to LG Velvet 5G units elsewhere. This means users are in the dark about the status of Android 11 for their devices.
Well, that is no longer the case, at least for LG Velvet 5G users in Canada since Fido has confirmed that the Android 11 update for the device would be released on March 26.
Like most other mobile carriers in the country, Fido regularly maintains an OS upgrade schedule wherein it lists details about devices that are scheduled to get software updates in the upcoming days or weeks.
And in the latest update to the schedule, Fido shared the information about the upcoming Android 11 update for the LG Velvet 5G in Canada.
It’s possible that we may see the update go live in other regions ahead of Canada since most OEMs usually begin rolling out updates in countries in Europe, Asia, or even the U.S. ahead of the Canadian market.
That said, the LG Velvet isn’t the only smartphone from the company that has bagged the new Android version.
The South Korean electronics company has also released Android 11 for the LG V60 ThinQ and the LG X5 Android One (sold in Japan).
Matter of fact, Fido had also recently confirmed that the LG G7 One will get the update to Android 11 in Canada on March 31.
This means two LG smartphones are scheduled to get the update to Android 11 in the country before the end of the month.
