New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on February 20, 2021) follows:

LG G7 One (aka LG X5 and LG Q9 One) came out way back in August 2018 with Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.

The Android One device has received two major OS updates so far which means that it currently runs Android 10.

However, speculations have been rife that LG G7 One is now in line for its third OS update i.e., Android 11.

The Android 11 kernel sources for the Korean LG Q9 One variant went live pretty recently which indicated that the OS update might be around the corner.

Now, Canadian network service provider, Fido, has updated its OS upgrade schedule as per which, the Android 11 update for the carrier locked LG G7 One units will start rolling out on March 31, 2021.

This info further suggests that the latest OS update for the device in question might indeed be on the cards.

While LG has not made any announcements on the matter yet, the info from Fido’s OS upgrade schedule might be a confirmation of sorts.

Nevertheless, nothing is concrete until the OS update starts rolling out to the said device as per the schedule.

Another thing to note is that carrier locked devices usually get major OS updates after their unlocked counterparts.

This means that the standard LG G7 One (aka LG Q9 One and LG X5) might get the latest OS update before the said date.

That said, we will keep tracking this for further development and will provide more details once new information becomes available.
