League of Legends refund token issue gets acknowledged, fix expected this month

Launched in 2009, League of Legends is a popular MOBA title that is developed and published by the now Tencent-owned Riot Games. The free-to-play game pitches players against each other in a 5v5 match.

With millions of players worldwide, Riot Games often update the game that introduces new champions and balance changes that make it feel fresh.

League of Legends generates revenue by selling in-game items such as skins and emotes. It even features a refund system with each account coming with three refund tokens.

Having said that, last month, Riot Games gave awarded every player with a refund token like they do at the end of every year. But players soon started reporting (1,2,3,4,5) that they did not receive any refund token.

Some said that they tried reinstalling the client to see if the token showed up but still couldn’t get any.

I read that everyone was getting a skin refund token but I dont seem have one available
Do I need to go somewhere to claim it? I heard it happens automatically, just want to make sure I didnt miss anything. I need to type more so I hope everyone has a fantastic Christmas and a kick butt 2022 as a year and a season. Cheers!

Fortunately, Riot Games Support was quick to acknowledge the issue and said that they were looking into it, but due to the winter holidays, it won’t be resolved anytime before 2022.

[LoL] Update on our previous announcement: We are aware that not everyone has gotten the yearly refund token yet and are currently looking into it. Due to winter holidays, this will likely be resolved during the month of January.

Now Riot Games has shared an update to its previous acknowledgment and said that the issue will be sorted out this month and that they will hand out a refund token to affected League of Legends players.

Since there is no timeframe on how it will take for Riot Games to fix the issue, we presume that it might be resolved in the coming weeks.
