We are living in a world of applications. Every single day, we interact with a number of apps, be it for connecting with others, ordering food, hiring a cab, and what not! Most of them come bundled with advertisements or limited features.

In order to enhance the attributes, people go after modded applications. Take YouTube Vanced, GBWhatsApp or Instagram Plus for example. You can experience many specs on them that are unavailable on their respective platforms.

Nonetheless, it is no secret that the app developers don’t encourage users to opt for the modded versions. And, if they catch you using the modified app, a ban will be imposed on you outright! Still, the originators keep on finding loopholes to defy mobile DRM tools.

In case you happen to be a Snapchat user on iOS, you might have heard of Phantom. It falls under the category of modified applications. By signing into Phantom for Snapchat, you get access to many extra features like auto or manual saving of incoming snaps, longer videos, etc.

Phantom is one of the most popular Snapchat tweaks available for jailbroken iPhones. Despite having sporadic issues, the developer grabbed the attention of all the users who want to enhance the functions of the original application.

Yesterday, a new Phantom update has surfaced. Carrying the version number, 6.0.1-0, it seems to have messed up with a number of users. Those who upgraded to the latest version got banned from Snapchat.

Going through the comment section under a Reddit post, we got to know the duration of the ban varies from user to user. A few got 12-hour bans whereas for some others, it prolongs all the way up to a week.

No matter what iPhone you use, this update possibly get you banned. So, don’t attempt if you haven’t already hit the upgrade button. Within no time, the developer has responded to the outcries of the users. He acknowledged the issue through a tweet.

So it looks like I may have goofed with the last update. Further testing is needed, but I’ve restricted access to Snapchat in the meantime because some users are experiencing bans. Uninstall in the meantime.

What if you want to use Snapchat on a jailbroken device now? Well, you can try Snaphide. Even with the rise in reports of people getting banned on Phantom, Snaphide users are apparently safe. Have a look at it here.
