Developed and published by Ludia, Jurassic World Alive is an Augmented Reality based mobile game based on the 2015 Jurassic World movie.

It has more than 100 different species with players able to collect, create and battle various types of dinosaurs. Having said that, one of the most important features of an AR game is its ability to track player location in the real world

But according to reports (1,2,3,4,5) from Jurassic World Alive players, many have been facing GPS issues in the last few months on devices running Android 12. Some say the GPS is not tracking them properly, making it harder to enjoy the game.

A bunch of people said they had to open another app using GPS like Google Maps to sync their position. Below are some reports from Jurassic World Alive players affected by the GPS bug on Android 12.

It’s… okay. The GPS is laggy & definitely buggy. You can be looking at a field full of dinos one moment, and the next moment they’ve all disappeared. My favorite bait & switch example is the ad that shows you trying the hatch an egg by applying steady heat, and then somehow hatching a Mortem Rex, when I’ve never seen any sort of egg hatching screen in-game, while the Mortem Rex is obtainable only through Boss Raids. Decent game, but don’t get your hopes too high.

Thank you for the generic response. Developer team doesn’t help. I’ve contacted them several times. Your gps bug is spread far & wide since last Octoberish. You don’t care. You don’t fix bugs. Only make new ones. Then add even more content that brings even more bugs. Adding more to the game doesn’t make it any more fun when it doesn’t work right. You don’t care. That $$$ though. Add more stuff. Newbies buy the stuff to catch up to long time players. No. Will not give you my support key.

With some reports dating back to October last year, many are now wondering why the developers are taking so long to fix the issue.

As it turns out, Ludia has added the issue to its list of known bugs and said it is under investigation. However, there is no ETA on when it will be fixed.

They also suggested a workaround that involves turning on the precise location for the app in Android settings. But the majority of players are saying that the workaround is not helping in any way and that the issue persists.

Hey Christopher, I’m sorry to hear that there are issues with your in-game map. Our team is investigating a GPS issue for players running the game on Android 12. In the meantime, could you please check if your device has the Precise Location enabled?
Open Settings. Tap Location. Tap the JW Alive app to change the location setting. Toggle the Use precise location switch. Thank you.
