iPhone 'blue keys on keyboard' issue remains a mystery even on iOS 16.3, but there's an easy fix

Apple’s iPhones are undoubtedly among the best-selling smartphones in the world. These phones come packed with amazing features like Assistive Touch and appealing camera quality.

iPhones also receive iOS updates regularly that help ensure the smooth functioning of the devices. This also helps users get rid of various bugs and issues that occur every now and then.

For instance, we recently saw how the Apple Music Gapless Playback issue got fixed with the iOS 16.3 update that was apparently triggered by iOS 16.2.

However, a relatively long-standing issue (almost since iOS 12.1 beta) has been troubling a number of iPhone owners (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8) where some keys on the keyboard appear light blue.

No idea and maybe it’s totally unrelated, but my CarPlay does this. Sometimes one of the buttons is blue. Super random and it’s not always the same button, but once it’s blue it stays blue for the entirety of that drive

I’ve noticed for a while now the caps lock key, the number key, the return and delete key and the emoji key have turned light blue, this only occurs in the safari app. Should I be concerned? I’m on iOS 14.2

It seems that keys like Caps, Numbers, Emoji, Backspace, and Enter are most frequently affected. What’s worse is the fact that this issue has been around for years now.

Even though the bug has been persistent for quite a long time (1,2,3,4), the problem seems to have increased in frequency with the most recent iOS 16 versions (iOS 16.3).

Moreover, the problem is seemingly quite random and occurs while using the keyboard on various platforms like Discord and Safari as well.

Unfortunately, Apple hasn’t commented on this issue yet. So affected users can solve it by simply restarting their devices.
