iPhone 14 Pro camera making 'clicking sound' on Instagram & other apps even after iOS 16.0.2 update

DXOMARK, a firm that assigns scores to smartphone cameras, did put the Apple iPhone 14 Pro through their rigorous testing and ranked it second in the world.

The camera department is one of the most impressive features of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max. Sensor improvements resulted in a noticeable change in photo and video capture quality for end users.

However, many iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users are reporting an issue where the camera is making ‘clicking sound’ on third-party apps (1,2,3,4,5,6).

When users attempt to utilize the camera feature on various apps, it flashes dark for less than a second, followed by an audible clicking sound that can be plainly heard.

Apparently, this mechanical clicking sound can be heard every time users open the camera on a third-party app. However, no such sound can be heard on the default camera app.

Even after the iOS 16.0.2 update, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users are still reporting this problem, which affects not only Instagram but several other third-party applications as well.

Does anyone else not have the camera shaking issue, or only hear a click? I had two iPhone 14 Pro Max’s and I used Instagram and TikTok. The most I hear is a tiny but audible click when I switch cameras on Instagram. There’s no shaking and this issue didn’t exist on my 12 Pro Max.

@AppleSupport I got a new iPhone 14 Pro and it’s currently running iOS 16.0.2. Wherever I open the camera on the @instagram app, it makes a click noise. All the other apps where the camera was rattling is fixed, except @instagram. Any reason why this is not fixed yet?

Some individuals are worried about this problem because they think their devices could be broken. However, it appears to be more of a software bug than a hardware problem.

This is not the same as the ‘camera rattling’ issue where the optical stabilizer would go haywire rattling inside the camera in third-party apps. That was fixed in iOS 16.0.2 update.

We hope that Apple quickly finds a solution to the iPhone 14 Pro camera ‘clicking sound’ so that users go back to enjoying taking high-quality shots with their smartphones.
