New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…

Original story (published on September 27, 2021) follows:

On September 14, the latest generation iPhone 13 series was unveiled with Apple’s latest innovations onboard. The lineup includes four models – iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

With iPhone 13, the Cupertino tech giant has made a couple of changes in the design such as the notch is reduced by 20% and the camera on the iPhone 13 and 13 mini have placed diagonally.

Since these new iPhones have become available for sale, they have reached plenty of consumers around the world. And the users and reviewers have been sharing their early experiences with these new iPhones.

Along with the goodies, the users have also reported some unusual bugs with the iPhone 13 models. As such, the latest one is where the new iPhones are unable to respond to the tap to wake feature.

In detail, the tap to wake feature on the iPhone 13 does not work sometimes when a user taps on the screen. This problem has appeared when the users have upgraded to the latest iOS 15.1 beta.

Got the iPhone 13 Pro on launch day, tap to wake refuses to work sometimes. It does work after I wake the phone up with the power button and put it back to sleep.

Installed 15.1 dev beta and still having the issue – Source

Same, I have the 13 pro max on current beta build 5.1 and the issue happens often. Wife has 13 pro max with ios 15.0 non beta and it also happens the same amount. – Source

Happened to me as well. So I had to do a soft reboot and now all is well. However I sent the phone back and wait till next year – Source

After looking at the multiple reports, this clearly seems a software-related issue that is causing trouble for those who are testing iOS 15.1 beta. However, some of the users on iOS 15 have also reported the same problem.

Apple has not yet acknowledged this bug and no permanent workaround has been issued. Though, the affected users can temporarily make use of the power button to wake their iPhone instead of using the tap to wake feature.

The users can also try to solve this issue by doing a soft reboot (see if it works) or revert back to iOS 15, in case they’re testing the beta. But we recommend you to wait until Apple rolls out a new software update.
