Some iOS 17 users have lately been experiencing an issue where the Contact Poster feature is not working or is showing a gray screen on calls.

Apple recently introduced the ‘Contact Poster’ feature in the latest iOS. It allows one to customize the appearance of their contact card that displays while calling someone.

In addition to this, one can also share their contact poster with others with the help of the NameDrop feature.

However, by looking at the reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), it appears that multiple iOS 17 users are unable to use the new feature. As per the claims, the poster does not appear during calls despite being set up correctly.

Even though the poster shows up like it should, it fails to display on other smartphones. And surprisingly, this also happens when they utilize the feature on devices upgraded to the latest iOS.

Some allege that contact cards cannot be shared properly if the recipient already has their contact information.

They also claim that you need to delete each other’s contacts and then share the information to make the poster appear correctly.

However, to rub salt in the wounds, a poster created and shared from a newer iPhone keeps getting deleted on the old ones.

One of those impacted says that the poster they prepared using an iPhone 12 displays normally on an iPhone 14. Although the one they created and shared with the iPhone 14 deletes itself when they click on the ‘done button’.

They assert that only a small circular image remains after hitting it. Also, they have to create a new poster for the other user.

A few contend that the call screen and buttons switch while trying to set a poster for callers. People are also upset as they are encountering difficulties while trying to update an old contact card.

They allegedly have to make a contact poster for it. However, the poster randomly blurs the top half of the photo, and it cannot be re-focused on the person’s face.

Potential workarounds

Fortunately, we have come across some workarounds that might help solve your problem. Firstly, it is recommended that you delete the old contact information from both phones and then share the new posters with each other.
