[Update: Resolved] Insurgency: Sandstorm EAC issue preventing players from launching game after lastest update gets acknowledged

If you are someone who prefers tactical shooters in the era of battle royale titles, then you must have heard of Insurgency: Sandstorm. Built using Unreal Engine 4 and developed by New World Interactive, the game was released in December of 2018.

Following on the lines of its predecessor, Insurgency: Sandstorm lacks an HP bar, ammo count, and a minimap. The gameplay focuses heavily on the tactical aspect, rewarding players who indulge in teamwork and communication.

But as is the case with every other online multiplayer game, players do encounter some issues such as the one where players reported that the game was freezing or crashing for them.

That being said, Insurgency Sandstorm players are reporting (1,2,3,4,5) an issue with EAC. Many say that the Easy Anti-Cheat software is preventing them from launching the game. While some are getting a ‘failed to initialize the game launcher’ error, others say that the game kicks them out whenever they join a match.

Players said they tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game and verifying files from Steam as well, but the game still crashes. Moreover, reports suggest that the issue surfaced after a recent update.

I am going to lose my mind i have been trying to fix this for the past 4 hours with no luck i just want to play this fucking game with my friends but i cant because of this error i tried uninstalling and reinstalling eac and the game stil get failed to initialize error i tried to start the anti cheat sercice manually got the windows error when i want to try repairing manually the game starts fine without eac but then i get kicked from the server for eac authentication timeout

Hi guys, since the last update, I’m facing a big problem: ” You have been kicked from the server : failed anti-cheat authentification ” I was unable to launch the game just after the update, because of Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC can’t find the launcher or something like that, whatever) So, for the next few days I was running Insurgency as an administrator, following some advises I found on the internet. But now, doing the same thing, I can run it but as soon as I select a class in a game, I got kicked. I was thinking it will be only on modded servers, so I tried a classic PVE, and it’s the same.

As it turns out, Insurgency developers are already aware of the issue and said that they are working on a solution. However, they did not share any ETA on when it will be fixed.

In the meantime, some users have shared a workaround that might help resolve the issue.

Put the files in the GameLauncher folder there :
C: > Users > (the one you are using) > AppData > Roaming > EasyAntiCheat > GameLauncher

05:37 pm (IST): The team confirmed — via Twitter — that a hotfix to address the EAC launching issue is out. However, it’s worth noting that it’s got nothing to do with the EAC issue present of GeForce NOW and Windows 7.
