Some Instagram users are reporting that the ‘Suggested for you’ feed shows some irrelevant content, disturbing images, and content they are not interested in.
According to reports, this irrelevant content or post makes the user experience frustrating.

Literally 75% of my @Instagram feed is is comprised of ads or accounts I don’t follow. So annoying! I don’t need “suggested for you.” I want to see posts from the accounts I follow. (Source)
Instagram ‘Suggested for you’ is supposed to be based on your activity, connections, and interests. But as highlighted in the reports above, the content doesn’t match the user interests at all.
In fact, some users even allege that they get to see disturbing video clips because their ‘Suggested for you’ feed shows disabled children, disfigured kids and parent loss posts at times.
My Insta feed has started to show me randomly out of no where disabled children and disfigured kids and parent loss posts. Why is this happening, I do not follow any posts like this I do not like any post like this. My account is not new it’s many many years old. (Source)
Users can complain about the suggested posts if they find them irrelevant through ‘Hide suggested posts in your Instagram feed’ or ‘Instagram Help Center’.
However, some people claim that tapping the ‘not interested’ option does not help to improve the suggestions.
so my suggested reels page used to be filled with Taylor Swift concert videos and funny comedian creators but recently, the only thing I’ve been seeing is random Indian people with reels with 1 like or so, I don’t know what i did to make my suggestion like this, how do I fix this? (Source)
This isn’t the only recent issue with the platform’s user experience. Recently, we also covered the Instagram ‘Top posts’ and ‘Recent top posts’ hashtag sorting issues.
That said, since Instagram hasn’t acknowledged the problem, it’s unlikely that users will see a change in the suggestions. Unless the company silently fixes their algorithms.
