As with other social platforms, interactions between users are a fundamental part of the ‘Instagram experience’.

Normally, when someone interacts with our posts (whether by commenting, liking or sharing), we receive a notification to be aware.

However, it seems that lately some Instagram users have been facing an issue where their notifications are delayed, not loading or even not received.

Multiple reports indicate that the behavior of Instagram notifications has been erratic for some in recent days (1, 2, 3).

People affected by the issue describe situations such as a noticeable delay (many minutes or even hours) in receiving notifications.

There are also cases where Instagram notifications are not loading even after entering the app (1, 2, 3). Sometimes, users need to wait for a while for the notifications to start showing up in the dedicated section.

Not receiving like or comment notifications on Instagram

It’s been a week since I have not been able to receive any like or comment notifications from Instagram. This has happened to all of my Instagram accounts. Instagram also won’t notify me when I get a follow request. Is there a reason why this is happening? Is this a glitch?

Insta notifications hours late, Bugs across Meta of late?

Anyone noticing a bug with notifications arriving hours later? Anyone else getting notifications hours after replies to your posts on the app? It’s been doing this for 5-6 days now.

I don’t know if Meta are having a major system bug out across the board as the FB app is totally down for me, won’t load at all.

Apparently the issue started happening at least a couple of weeks ago (1, 2, 3). There is currently no official acknowledgment of the bug from the Instagram dev team.

There is also no workaround that helps to resolve it or at least mitigate it while waiting for an official fix.

Let’s hope that the bug can be fixed soon, since the proper functioning of the notifications is key for many, especially those who use their accounts for business or work.

We will be monitoring the situation to update this story as events unfold in the future.

09:05 am (IST): Instagram users have taken to X and Reddit to report that their notifications are either not arriving or are arriving very late. Furthermore, some claim that they cannot view previous notifications, only a few recent ones.
