Instagram is a popular social networking website used by millions of people worldwide to share photos and videos. Recently, it launched an update with which the platform sneakily underwent some aesthetic changes.

The patch has replaced the notification tab with the ‘Reels’ tab and is now placed on the top-right corner of the homepage.

However, it looks like the change has not been well received by the audience.

Instagram ‘Notifications’ button new position gets criticized by users

According to reports (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10), some users are unhappy with the recent change made to the notification button’s position.

The button is now placed beside the DM (Direct Messages) icon on the platform. Some users are confused by the sudden change and end up accidentally hitting on the ‘reels’ button when they wanted to tap on the ‘notifications’ one.

As a result, some people are irritated and have taken to social media to express their displeasure.

After the recent change, some left-handed users are also facing difficulties accessing the notifications with the help of the new button.

A Twitter user even points out that this could be the company’s tactic to push reels to more and more users. Users are now requesting Instagram to revert the changes made.

It is also worth mentioning that this isn’t the first time that the social media platform has tried such a change. A similar attempt was made back in 2020 but was reverted due to unknown reasons.

Having said that, we’ll keep an eye on the issue where some users are unhappy with the recent change made to the Instagram ‘Notifications’ button and update this article as we come across any new information.
