The introduction of the Notes feature is Instagram’s new approach that lets users communicate their ideas and keep up with their friends. These are basically brief posts that can be up to 60 characters long.

However, when it was first announced, it drew a lot of criticism from a section of users. People also felt that this feature is quite annoying and distracting.

And now, several Instagram users (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) have recently been complaining that the ‘notes’ feature has vanished from the app. This has left them wondering what really happened to this functionality.

There are a number of inconsistencies as well as uncertainties with the feature right now. For some, it keeps randomly disappearing and then reappearing (1,2,3,4,5), while others have not even gotten it yet (1,2,3,4,5).

It appears that this feature is still in its testing phase and will gradually roll out to everyone. In fact, some users have already started to receive the new Instagram notes function (1,2,3,4,5).

However, as part of the testing process, users may suddenly gain or lose the functionality. It is also possible that some people might never get it, before the complete release.

So, until Instagram rolls out the complete and stable feature, this situation will likely continue to persist. Hopefully, the notes feature gets released as soon as possible.

05:29 pm (IST): Some users are again reporting (1, 2, 3) that the Notes feature has disappeared for them. This problem apparently re-surfaced after the recent Instagram outage.

10:07 am (IST): Some Instagram users are once again facing the issue where the Notes are disappearing (1, 2).

12:30 pm (IST): The notes are still disappearing for some as users (1,2) are reporting about the same, but there is no official word.

03:48 pm (IST): According to recent user reports, the Notes feature is still not visible or functional for certain users after such a long time. Furthermore, there has been no official word on the subject.
